Pee Wee STORM Play Strong For a Full Crowd at the Plex
Well it was full bench strength on Sunday vs. Arran Elderslie as Storm's teamwork led them to a 5-1 victory.
First period play was end to end and scoreless until Storm's Emma VanHaelemeesch assisted by #14 Dylan Pomroy found the net, giving the squad a 1-0 lead. With the powerful trio of Horseman, Vanhaelemeesch and Flett on the move with just a minute left in the first, there was no stopping the passing - #6 to #8, then to Horseman who put it home for the second goal of the game. Second period of play started with Storm scoring early with a goal by Pomroy, assisted by Korey Thomas and Ken Bingham. Dylan scored again late in the 4th to give the Storm a 4-0 lead, which was answered seconds later by Arron Elderslie's first goal of the game at 4:13. Third period was full of strong defensive play with just one goal being scored with 5:29 left, with Horseman picking up his second goal of the game, with assists again by VanHaelemeesch and Flett. This was a team effort with solid backchecking by JD Barnard, River Roote and Braeden Ashton and solid defensive play all around. Game day ended with some team "carolling"??? and some interesting moves in the changeroom and a Christmas pizza party in the Boardroom.
