Game 4 Report for hometown Southport Optimist Pee Wees
Pee Wee LL Remains Undefeated - Article submitted by Tamri Ashton

Storm PeeWee Local League #1 headed to Tara for their 4th game of the season.  With Cam Plante in net the Storm came out strong right from the beginning.  Tara’s winger had a couple smooth moves and got past Storm’s defense.  Plante made a superb save on Tara’s shot on net.  Just 3 minutes into the game Braeden Ashton deflected the puck as Tara was attempting to get puck out of their end.  Ashton took the puck to the boards and made a shot on net.  Puck hit the goal post and rebounded into the net.   A minute later Brayden Horseman scored on his own rebound.  Not quite 5 minutes into the game, Storm Defense took a 4 minute penalty.  Storm players fought hard and kept the puck out of their end for the majority of the penalty.  Tara was only able to take one shot on net during that time and with less than 5 minutes left in the period, there was a flurry of activity in front of the Storm net and Tara scored their one and only goal of the game.  Storm players kept the Tara defense players quite busy for the last 2 minutes of the 1st period.  Period 2 had strong play from both teams.  Storm defense lines of Nolan Dereski, Wade Kewageshig, Jake Olinski, and Wes Johnson kept Tara at bay and made many stellar moves.  Goalie Plante was quite active during the 2nd.  Just 30 seconds into the 3rd period Emma VanHaelemeesch picked the puck up from center and skated in for a hard shot on net.  Tara Goalie was ready as puck rebounded but was picked up immediately by Brayden Horseman whose shot gave Storm their 3rd goal.  Shortly thereafter Emma received a nice pass to her position at the center blue line where she took the puck to the net and scored.  Minute later Horseman had a back hand shot on net and the Storm scored their 5th goal.  Bill Johnson, Korey Thomas, and Dylan Pomroy all had opportunites at the net however the Tara goalie kept their goals at bay and prevented even more goals being scored.  With Tara having another power play for the last 3 ½ minutes of the game, the Storm players easily killed the penalty. With the combined efforts of Ken Bingham, Cody Flett, JD Bernard, River Roote, and Owen MacKenzie, the Storm team came away with the win.    Brett Kinden and Darian Besito were unavailable for this game.  Christian Doubt is expected in net for the following day’s game.
