The Bruce County Physiotherapy Bantam A/E Storm played their third and deciding game against Mitchell on Saturday in Southampton/

This was a hot goalie battle right from the start with both the Mitchell and Saugeen goaltender David McGinnis making great saves throughout the entire game. Just over 3 minutes into this game, James Besito picked up a loose puck a center ice, and skated hard into the Mitchell zone before beating the goaltender 5 hole. The Storm then ran into some penalty trouble, and had to rely on McGinnis to make some great saves. The Score was 1-0 Storm after the first period. In the second, Mitchell began to wake up and put all kinds of pressure on the Storm. Saugeen Shores still were hanging onto a 1-0 lead after 2 periods. In the early minutes of the third, Saugeen tried to add some insurance to their lead. After winning a puck battle in their own zone, Mitchell was able to skate into the Storm zone, and fire a shot through a screened McGinnis to tie the game. Both teams generated several chances to grab the lead. Besito missed the net by inches late in the game with the Mitchell goaltender way out of position. Regulation would solve nothing, so the game was off to overtime. Most of the early stages of overtime were played in the Storm zone. Then the Storm took the puck into the Mitchell zone on a Duncan Simpson end to end rush. Simpson’s shot was stopped and then there was a big pile up on the Mitchell goaltender. During the pile up a Mitchell player put his glove on the puck to prevent it from going in. Once all of the players got back up and after much protest from Mitchell, the Ref awarded the Storm with a penalty shot taken by Colton Hall. Hall  went in and beat the goaltender 5 hole to win the series for the Storm and advance them to the W.O.A.A final against Goderich.

The Storm will now face Goderich in the W.O.A.A final with the winner moving onto the  O.M.H.A. Check the website for when the games will be played.
