The Saugeen Shores Bantam A/E Bruce County Physiotherapy/Lakeshore Recreation team played in Mitchell on Saturday. Goaltender David McGinnis made some big saves early on for the Storm but Mitchell was able to open the scoring midway through the first period.

The Storm had many chances to tie but were unable. Mitchell was still up 1-0 after one period of play. Seconds into the next period, James Besito made a big hit down low and was able to force a Mitchell turnover. He then skated to the front of the net and was able to beat the goalie glove side with assists to Braden Kelly and Mack Gallagher. Four minutes later, Justin Greig went on an end to end rush, and was able to score low stick side.  McGinnis made more big saves to preserve the one goal lead for the Storm. Late in the second, after a mad scramble in front of the Mitchell net, Tanner MacAulay tapped home a two goal lead for the Storm with Besito getting the helper. The Storm had a 3-1 lead after two periods of play. The Storm came out of the gate flat in the third. Five minutes into the final period, the Storm allowed Mitchell to cut the lead in half. Storm players tried to add some insurance to their lead. Then a Mitchell player was awarded a penalty shot on McGinnis. McGinnis stayed with the shot and was able to make a pad save. With one minute to go in the game, Mitchell pulled the goalie to take advantage of a 6 on 4 opportunity. The Storm were able to hold on and secured a 3-2 win.

The Storm now have a quiet week of hockey with a tournament starting next Saturday in Clinton.
