U15 WOAA Champs
The Saugeen Shores Storm U15 girls (Sponsored by the Port Elgin Lions Club) competed in the WOAA League tournament over the weekend.

Friday nights game was against GreyBruce Shooting stars.  Despite grosly outshooting the Stars,  Saugeen came up short in a 2-1 loss.  This set up a double header with South Bruce Blades.  The Storm came out flying in game one and shocked the Blades 5-0.   The semi-final was a different affair all together.   Bruce Blades got the first goal early in Period one. While Storm carried the play for most of the game, the Blades played a physical affair throughout.  Their roughness caught up, with a number of earned penalties resulting in a power play goal 1-1.  Storm never let up and skated the depleted Blades to exhaustion earning the go ahead and game winner in the third.    Off to the finals for a rematch with Grey Bruce.
With the Championship on the line, this group of Saugeen Shores girls did not disappoint.  From Puck drop to the final buzzer, the girls executed the gameplan flawlessly.  The hustle & puck pursuit  was all a coach or parent could ask for.  Grey Bruce’s goaltender deserves mention as she was tough to beat.  The Storm found a way in the first converting a point shot with a beautiful top shelf tip, Impossible to stop.  Still 1-0 entering the third, Storm kept pressing and finally put a second puck across the line.  With the clock winding down, Grey Bruce went to the power play with an empty net.  Saugeen Shores were having none of it, Protecting the Egg for their own goaltender who earned two shut-outs on the weekend with her exemplary play. With less than a minute remaining, Storm potted an empty netter from their own end of the ice.  3-0.  Game, Set, Match.  Champions!!!
The Coaches want to thank all the players and parents for an exceptional season.  What an amazing group of young Women. Kind, respectful, hardworking.  Every player on this team improved immensely this season.  They were a pleasure to coach and We would like to Thank them all for another Great Season Playing for the Saugeen Shores Storm.
 Enjoy Your Summer Ladies!
