Our U13C Squad went into this weekend full of energy and excitement!  Who wouldn’t be after such a long time away from that great tournament atmosphere.

We had a tough time shaking off the car legs on Friday and ended up with a Loss and Tie.

This set the must win stage for Saturdays games.  True to our team form & style, the girls did not disappoint. They came out flying in the morning contest!  They looked and played just like the team we strive to be.  A Win was awarded and deserved.

But the must win stage was still set.  After reviewing all the other scores, it was quietly noted that our Storm players needed to win by Five goals to move on..

The StormCats 😉 came out swinging and kept it up! They played their most complete hockey game of the season and with a 4 goal lead and the clock ticking, nothing was certain. Its hard to keep on pressing with time running out, but thats what happened and with 2 minutes remaining that elusive 5th goal came. I think the Parents were more excited than the players (as the players did not know 5 were required). When the final seconds melted away, it was a 5-0 Shutout for our StormCats.  Way to go Squad!!

Third place was secured and we were in to Sundays contest.

In the end, it was not meant be. Our team came out with a great effort and a ton of determination.  But the puck did not bounce our way.  A couple posts and missed attempts left the girls trailing by 1 going into the third period.  A couple bounces later and it was 3-0.  A heart breaker for sure, but nothing to dwell on.

The coaches were very proud of our team this weekend.  We got better every game and showed some serious grit playing to the final buzzer.  All told, there were many good take aways & lessons learned.

All in all, we had success. We saw everyone smiling & having fun away from the rink and every player brought their game face & best efforts to the rink.

Thank you to all the Parents & Players for a job well done.  I hope everyone had a happy, safe & Fun weekend!
