Storm Midget B’s Advance to WOAA Finals
With a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Goderich Sailors the Nicol Insurance Storm Midget B’s have advanced to the 2019 WOAA Gregg Division finals.

The round robin playoff series ended with the Storm and Goderich tied with 10 points each, setting up a one game playoff to determine who advances to the final.

The Storm jumped out to an early lead and, despite having to kill off 4 straight penalties, maintained a 2-1 lead deep into the third period when the Sailors scored to tie it up. The teams exchanged chances and it looked like the game was headed to overtime when Goderich took an ill-timed tripping penalty with a little over two minutes to play.

The Storm power play was firing on all cylinders, swarming the Goderich net with multiple scoring chances. Finally, with 1:01 left to play, Storm captain Ben Lalonde jammed home the go-ahead goal and the crowd went wild. The Sailors pulled their goalie and played with an extra skater for the last minute of play, but the Storm held on for the win and a trip to the WOAA finals.

The Storm will face either the BCH Ice Dogs or Blyth-Brussels Crusaders who are playing in their own one game playoff on 17MAR.

Congratulations to the Storm team and best of luck in the finals … and Storm fans, keep your eye on the schedule and come out and support the team!!
