Novice B - 2016 Grant Lee Memorial Tournament Champions
It was an exciting weekend for the Saugeen Shores Novice B team who travelled to Hensall to compete in the 5th Annual Grant Lee Memorial Tournament on October 14th & 15th.

The Novice B kicked off their tournament Friday night vs the Wingham Ironmen. S. Porter opened the scoring 1 minute 13 seconds into the 1st period which had family and friends on their feet cheering. The Storm continued to move the puck well throughout the game and R. Foster earned a pair of assists in a 5-1 win over the Ironmen.

Saturday morning brought the Storm back to Hensall to face the Ilderton Jets. This time B. Hall kicked off the scoring 1 minute and 21 seconds into the 1st period. The Storm were able to hold onto the lead until 2 minutes into the 2nd when the Jets were finally able to get one past the goalie. Excellent defensive play by A. Jacklin, S. Hall, M. Lettau, C. Marshall and H. Van Geel as well as outstanding saves by goalie T. Nakai kept the Jets off the scoreboard for the rest of the game. The Storm's hard work and determination paid off when C. Jackson scored 2 minutes into the 3rd to retake the lead. A breakaway by E. Akerman added an insurance goal to give the Storm a 3-1 win over the Jets.

The beautiful sunshine couldn't keep the Storm away when they faced off with the Mitchell Meteors Saturday afternoon. A pair of goals each by D. Thomson and J. Boone contributed to an 8-1 win over the Meteors.

Off to the Championship game, the Novice B were set to play the Kincardine Kinucks. The Storm took an early lead but the Kinucks continued to battle back. A high scoring game with nonstop end to end action, family and friends were thrilled to see the Novice B take the Championship title with a 9-4 win over the Kinucks. Congratulations Storm! We are very proud of how hard you worked as a team and look forward to a great season.
