Novice Select 08's
The Saugeen Shores Novice Select 08's were able to officially kick off their season with a great game against the Kincardine Novice Selects. It was a hard fought game with great end to end play and some outstanding saves by both goalies.
Kincardine started the scoring off in the first period. It wasn't until the second that Devin Thomson replied with a nice shot over the goalie's shoulder. A good part of the second and third periods were spent in Kincardine's end but there was little reward for the 08's hard work as they couldn't seem to buy a goal. Great positional play by defensemen Jacklin, B. Hall, Lettau and Dorion kept the opposition penned in their end for extended periods throughout the game. The forward lines of S. Hall, Akerman, Boone, Lawrence, Thomson and Foster provided some hard work in the corners and great passing to keep the Kincardine net minder on his toes throughout the night.
Half way through the third Kincardine pulled ahead by one on a screened shot to make it a 2-1 game.
Save of the game was a big blocker save by Ellsworth to keep the game within one goal.
Although the boys couldn't pull even before the buzzer sounded they skated off proud of their effort and are looking forward to their rematch vs. Kincardine on December 18th.
