Congratulations to the SSMHA Novice Select 2008 team, sponsored by the Lion’s Club, who brought home the Niagara-on-the-Lake Meridian March Break Tournament Championship trophy.
Heading into the final game Saugeen Shores was 3-0 while Windsor was 2-1. Expectations were high that it would be a great game.
A hard fought battle with end to end excitement, the final game versus the Windsor Junior Spitfire had everyone on their feet cheering. The Storm took the lead halfway through the first only to have Windsor tie it up early in the 2nd. The Storm responded with a couple of quick goals and held on to win 5-3.
It was a weekend filled with top shelf goals, exceptional positional play, stellar goaltending, and outstanding sportsmanship that made all of the coaches and parents very proud.
