Storm LL#1 Competes in Wade Simmons Memorial Tournament
Saturday the Atom Storm LL#1, Allan’s Fireside Grill, competed in the Wade Simmons Memorial Tournament in Tiverton.  This was a one day 3 Game tournament and the first one of the season for the Storm#1.  The players, Coaches, and fans were very excited to be part of this event and what a great day of hockey it was.

Storm#1 vs Storm #2

The first game of the day the two Storm LL teams faced off against each other to open the tournament as they were the first game of the day.   Both teams came out strong as they always do when they match up against each other.  Storm #1 played a heck of a game and probably out played the Storm#2 but it was the amazing goaltending of Storm#2 that kept us off the board and the final was 4-0.  The team was not discouraged after the game because they knew they had played very well and really worked hard all game long.  Digger Award went to Ian as he was playing a very tough game and was all over the ice working as hard as he could shutting down his opponents and creating chances for his team.  Great work all game Ian!!

Storm vs Hanover

After a few hours off the Storm had to go back to work against Hanover.  The team came out strong and went up 2-0 early with goals from Charlie at 9:44, and Riley, 9:24 both unassisted.  Big Save Benny was looking great in net and shut the door the rest of the period with some great saves.  The Storm managed another goal early in the second period at 9:49 from Wes and Jack earning a beauty assist on the play.  Hanover came back shortly after at 9:10, but Talan kept his team going with a great shot just inside the blueline at 3:54 with Wes earning the assist, then once again at 3:33 Wes scored unassisted.    Hanover struck first in the third at 6:56 but Wes got it right back at 6:25 with another.  Jake kept the pace going and managed two more at 5:20 and 4:29 both unassisted.  A solid effort in net by Big Save Ben and some great work by the whole team earned them the win.  Ismail was awarded the Digger Award as he was great all game at winning battles and trying his luck and managing a few nice rushes up ice with the puck.  Great job Ishie, you played a great game!!!

Storm vs South Huron

For the third and final game of the tournament the Storm faced off against South Huron.  The Storm took to the ice and got off to a great start gaining the South Huron’s zone quick and keeping the play down there.  With the Storm getting plenty of shots on net and working hard and winning battles Charlie broke the scoring at 5:50 into the first from a great pass off the boards from Jack, Charlie earning the goal and Jack the assist.  This would prove to be the only goal scored in this game despite the amazing chances by both teams.  Big Save Benny shut the door and earned his second shutout of the season in a great goaltending performance and was awarded the game puck afterwards that Coach Richard had to trade for after the game with the tournament time keeper.  Andrew was awarded the the Digger award for his great work during the game and tournament of holding the blueline and getting the puck out of his teams end with some great skating to go along with it.

Great day of hockey team and a great job at the tournament!!!  With the points system the Storm had earned 2nd place overall in the tournament.  The coaches were very pleased with how well everyone skated and competed but most importantly the skills that the players developed in practices and over the season, that where displayed today!!

The Storm LL#1 would like to thank Debbie Simmons for a great tournament and all the volunteers that helped make it happen as this was a really fun day for the team and we where honored to be part of it.
