    Forecheck
The first clip I have sent out is for a 1-2-2 forecheck. Most of the time when the puck goes in the other teams end our strategy will be to send 2 players to the puck to try and win possession, this can work well when we can beat the other team to the puck or get there at about the same time. The 1-2-2 forecheck is used when we know the OTHER team is going to get to the puck first. An example would be when our players have had a long shift and have spent a lot of time in our own end, after finally getting control of the puck and breaking out, our very smart hockey players would know they should change, so once we get the puck OVER the red line we would dump (shoot the puck preferably into the other teams corner) the puck in and hustle our butts to the bench for a change! Obviously at this point the other team is going to get control of the puck before our fresh players coming from the bench get to it and this is one time when we would use this forecheck. There may be some terminology we aren’t familiar with so here goes with the notes. The X player is the other team, lets call them Toronto. F1 refers to the First player from our team in to Toronto's end or the closest player to the puck, but in this case we will say it is our right winger. F2 is the next player in and in this clip we will say it is our center. You are all sharp people and by process of elimination have determined that F3 is the left winger. D1 is the right D and D2 is the left D.
