Novice BB Storm have really been improving over the last month and everything came together for them Today.
The team started the tournament off with a tough 9-2 loss to the KIncardine Kinucks but showed that we will never give up no matter what the the score. The 2nd game was against a team that we were able to play well in regular season play but we could not take lightly in this tourney. With our 3 defence making play after play to stop the Mad Dogs and both our forward lines forechecking with authority in the offensive zone we were able to come away with a 5-1win which placed us into the consolation final vs the Hanover Falcons.
The Falcons have already defeated us twice this year in regular season play but that did not matter to these kids because confidence was now running high. The Falcons were able to build up a 3-1 lead on us but with seconds remaining in the 2nd period we closed the gap to 3-2 and we never turned back from here. 2min into the 3rd period we tied up the score at 3-3 and with huge saves from our goaltender Blain Ribey we forced this game to overtime. Nothing could be settled in the OT and we were off to a shootout. All 5 of our shooters made great moves on the falcons goalie with 3 being able to put the puck in the back of the net. But that was all we needed as Blain shut the door and only 2 of their shooters were able to score. WE WIN WE WIN!!!!!! Saugeen Shores Novice BB are Consolation Champs at the West Grey Rep Tournament. The Coaching staff is once again very very proud of the whole team and the never say never attitude that these players are starting to build.
