END OF REGULAR SEASON
Everyone has heard the old adage, “the score wasn’t a true reflection of the game”. Again this holds true for the Scotiabank Novices who held their own against a strong opponent but lost on the scoreboard. On Saturday afternoon Scotiabank lost 5 – 1 to the TCDMHA Desboro Team #2 in Desboro (two of those goals were scored into an empty net when their goalie was lifted for an extra attacker). Credit is given to the strong goaltending of the Desboro team and to the fast skating backchecking of their defence.  The Tyke Line played big and unfortunately the many offensive opportunities of Desmond Gouin and Eric Johnson only resulted in one goal.  Snake-bitten throughout the game, Desmond finally set up Eric with help from Jack Evans in the second period to avoid the shutout. Blake Shields is still shaking his head wondering how his point blank shot didn’t go in and Kaya Hall utilized his explosive acceleration to break in on the goalie not once but twice only to be stonewalled. Final standings are not available at this time but Scotiabank ends their regular season above 500 at 10 wins, 9 losses, and 1 tie for 21 points, one ahead of the SS Team #1 who also did well with a 500 record at 9 wins, 9 losses, and 2 ties for 20 points. Playoff dates and format will be announced after the meeting this Tuesday. In the meantime, next practice is Monday 8 Feb at 6pm at Southampton.
