SCOTIABANK NOVICES CASH IN
The Scotiabank Novices did not disappoint Steve Ingray and his Scotiabank Staff as they cheered on “their” team Thursday night at The Coliseum. A very exciting 1 – 0 win over the visiting Shallow Lake team couldn’t have been better scripted. The team’s Sponsor not only brought their vocal support but provided hotdogs and keepsake “banks” at the end of the game. The Scotiabank Novices also conducted a raffle with proceeds going to the Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund. $105 was realized from this endeavour and the winner received free entry to Chris Hall’s PD Hockey Day Camp. A very novel game within a game was devised on this successful evening. Each staff of the Scotiabank adopted a player off their team and the player who scored the LAST goal of the game made that staff a winner of a Hall’s Hockey Sweater. However, to be fair to the goalie, it was decided beforehand that a shutout would take precedence over the goal scorer. So Ayden Young did what he had to do to win for his adopted sponsor. Which brings us back to the actual game. Ayden’s record is 3 wins and 2 losses as a goalie this season and this was his second 1 – 0 win. The other hero of course was the goal scorer, Desmond Gouin, who potted the winner mid-way through the first period. Every player contributed in the defensive side of this squeaker but surprisingly there were also many good scoring drives which made it an awesome game to watch. Last game of the regular season is this Saturday in Desboro with playoff dates soon to be announced.
