First Team Goal This Year
After starting the new year with three straight shut-outs against, the Scotiabank Novices found their scoring touch on Saturday, recording an 8 to 3 win over the Bruce Peninsula. Desperate for even one goal, Coach Chris instituted a 4 - 1 - 1 allignment and it paid off in gold. As a goalie in one of those previous shut-outs, Eric Johnson found scoring was more fun as he potted a hat-trick and added two assists. Austin Belanger kept pace with one goal and three helpers. Colby Ritchie enjoyed a three point game with two goals and an assist with Desmond Gouin rounding out the scoring with two goals. Teena Ritchie and Reed Stauffer each contributed two assists with Hunter Barnard and Ayden Young adding one each. Our Tyke line of Kaya Hall, Spencer Sutter-Lammie, and Eoin Mackay again held their own. High 5's and pad pounding were given to Drew Besito by all of her team-mates at the buzzer for making a courageous save on a clear breakaway. Her first experience as a goalie will be remembered. Next game will be Wednesday in Southampton at 7pm followed by our participation in Tim Horton's Hockey Day In Canada in Lions Head on Saturday. We will be playing an exhibition game at 11am and participate in whatever activities the Bruce Peninsula community has organized.
