The BDO Dunwoody Atoms played in Collingwood at the 34th annual Huronia tournament this past weekend.  Our boys made it to the final game on Sunday afternoon before losing to the host team from Collingwood. On Friday morning the Storm began the tournament the way they ended it, with a matchup against Collingwood.  The boys came out determined and scored on only their second shot of the game thanks to an unassisted effort by Eric Charlebois.  But the tide turned quickly after that as Collingwood wanted the puck more and the Storm took it on the chin 7-1.  Jack Flarity faced 29 shots in taking the loss.

Next up for Saugeen Shores was Parry Sound on Friday afternoon.  The team was determined to get back on track and drew first blood when William Forsyth scored on a nice feed from Kelly Cobean.  The opposition tied it up after that and it became a see-saw battle as both teams traded goals. Will Rickerby worked hard along the boards making some solid rushes to the net.  In the end the Storm came away with a nail-biting 6-5 win.  Other scorers for Saugeen Shores were Murray Martin with 2 and Michael Fiegehen with a hat trick.  Assisting on the goals were Paul Leger, Thomas MacDonald, Eric Charlebois, Justin Marlowe and Korey Thomas.  Jake Ackert faced 19 shots in taking the win for the blue and white.

On Saturday afternoon the team played against Tavistock.  The game was a back and forth battle between the goaltenders throughout the game.  The only scoring came in the first period when Nick Sutter-Lammie scored on a scramble in front of the net with help from Thomas MacDonald.  Kent Ribey played a solid defensive game continually pushing Tavistock shooters into the corners.  Jack Flarity faced 17 shots and earned his first shutout of the season.  Because of the win, Saugeen Shores finished first in their pool and earned a spot in the semi-final on Sunday morning against Niagara-on-the-Lake.

The opposition scored first in the opening period putting the Storm down and needing a come-from-behind victory to get into the semi-finals.  And that is exactly what they got.  In the third period, Nick Sutter-Lammie scored both the tying and go-ahead goals to give his team the victory.  Assisting on the goals were Murray Martin, Jack Middleton and Thomas MacDonald.  Jake Ackert faced 11 shots and earned the win in net.

The final game was a re-match from Friday morning against Collingwood.  The team knew what they were up against and was looking to improve on their previous performance.  But once again, Collingwood proved to be the better team on the day, coming away with a 6-1 victory.  Scoring the lone goal was Michael Fiegehen on a redirected slap shot from Kelly Cobean.  Jack Flarity kept his team in the game, facing a whopping 36 shots in taking the loss.  MVP for the game was Paul Leger.

Next up for the Storm is a Saturday afternoon game against Walkerton at the Plex.
