The BDO Dunwoody Atom BB Team fared well this past weekend as they took on the Hanover Falcons and Durham Huskies.  The Saugeen Shores Storm team faced off first against the Hanover Falcons on Saturday, Feb. 13th at the Plex.  The Storm came charging out of the gate to score one in the first minute of the game as Will Rickerby, assisted by Michael Fiegehan, found the back of the net.  The Hanover Falcons quickly answered back, netting one for themselves just over two minutes later.  The score would remain tied at one for the duration of the first and second periods despite dominant play by the Storm team.  The Storm continued to force the play deep in the offensive zone during the third but the Falcons eventually found their way out to score a goal early in the final period to go up by one.  This time it was the Storm who would answer back just over two minutes later to even up the tally at two apiece when Michael Fiegehen, assisted by Kelly Cobean netted one.  Murray Martin from Justin Marlowe scored mere seconds later to put the Storm on top by one once again.  The BDO Dunwoody Atom BB Team kept the pressure on and continued to play a strong offensive game challenging the Hanover goaltender.  The Hanover Falcons were not ready to be counted out yet as they tied up the game once more at the 2:13 mark of the final period.  However, on the next play of the game, Nick Sutter-Lammie of the Storm launched a shot on the Hanover net and Justin Marlowe flipped in the rebound to get the go-ahead goal for the Storm.  The Saugeen Shores defense did a good job throughout the game, keeping the Falcons scoring opportunities to a minimum and forcing the play to the opposite end of the ice.  Goaltender, Jacob Ackert hung on in net to help his team pull off the 4-3 win.

The BDO Dunwoody Atom BB Team took on the Durham Huskies next on Sunday night at the Plex.  Once again the Storm came out strong, scoring early in the first.  Will Rickerby, assisted by Michael Fiegehen and Thomas MacDonald scored the game opener off a nice cycling play around the Durham net.  Fiegehen, still feeling the excitement of contributing to the first goal of the game, set off down the ice seconds later to net a goal of his own.  Kelly Cobean earned the assist on that second goal.  The solid play of the Storm continued into the second period and Justin Marlowe, assisted by Eric Charlebois, racked up his team’s third goal of the game.  The Huskies rallied back shortly after that to sneak one past Storm goaltender, Jack Flarity, who was screened on the play.  In the final seconds of the second period, Marlowe, displaying some pretty stick handling, worked his way past the Huskies defence to beat the goalie cleanly, bringing the Storm tally to four.  Kelly Cobean earned his second assist of the game.  Once again the Storm defense put on an impressive display of effectively clearing the zone and stonewalling the Huskies offensive attack.  Flarity put forth a solid performance in net, denying the Huskies any more points.  The third period saw the play take a decidedly physical turn as both teams took multiple penalties but neither team generated any more goals.  The final score, 4-1 in favour of the Storm team.

Next up for the BDO Dunwoody Atom BB Team is a game against the Goderich Sailors at the old arena in Goderich on Wednesday, February 17th and then a couple of Home games this next weekend.
