On the weekend of November 27th to the 29th, the Storm participated in Collingwood’s Huronia Tournament.

On Friday, the Storm opened the tournament with a 5-1 win over Collingwood.  It was a close game through the first two periods, with Collingwood scoring first on a power play goal in the first period.  Saugeen tied it in the second period on a power play goal from Ben Van Ooteghem – assists coming from Austin Henry and Wyatt LaBlance.  The third period saw Van Ooteghem scoring the next two goals.  Steve Langendoen scored the Storm’s fourth goal with an assist from Van Ooteghem.  LaBlance scored the final goal with assists from Jordan Vanhaelemeesch and Connor Speer.

In game 2 of the tournament, the Storm opened up a 2-0 lead with an unassisted goal by Steve Langendoen and Jordan Vanhaelemeesch scoring on a feed from Ben Van Ooteghem.
Saugeen killed off a 5-on-3 penalty situation in the second, only to have Lambeth score 40 seconds afterwards to make it 2-1.
In the third period, the Storm ended up in another 5-on-3 penalty kill, but failed to hold off Lambeth as they scored to tie the game at 2-2.

In game 3 Saugeen Shores again built up a 2-0 lead in the first period on two goals by Ben Van Ooteghem, with Steve Langendoen drawing assists on both goals, and Charlie Wilkinson also assisting on the second goal.
The second period saw Dorchester score to make it 2-1.  Jordan Vanhaelemeesch scored in the third with assists coming from Langendoen and Wilkinson.  For the third time in this tournament, the Storm ended up in the situation of having to deal with being short-handed 5-on-3, and Dorchester was able to capitalize on the situation to make it a one goal game again, but that was a close as they came, as the Storm were able to hold the Dragons back.

On the final day of the tournament, the Storm were matched up with the Simcoe Warriors in the semi-final.
The first period went scoreless, but early in the second period Saugeen Jordan Vanhaelemeesch scored on the power play, with assists coming from Ben Van Ooteghem and Wyatt LaBlance.  Charlie Wilkinson scored the second Storm goal, assisted by Ben Walker.  Simcoe scored near the end of the second to keep the game close.
In the third period Simcoe scored to tie up the game at 2-2.  The Storm regained the lead when Van Ooteghem scored, assisted by Steve Langendoen and Austin Henry.  Langendoen then helped out with another Storm goal, assisted by Van Ooteghem to take a 4-2 lead.  Simcoe pulled their goalie late in the game but were thwarted when Van Ooteghem broke away and put the puck in the empty net to give the Storm a 5-2 win.

In a re-match to yesterday's game, the Storm faced off against Dorchester.  Saugeen fell behind in the first period by a goal and it stayed that way until the third period, thanks to some good goaltending by Luke Schmalz.
In the third period, Dorchester opened up the lead with another goal, and then scored on a power play to make it 3-0.  The Storm couldn’t mount a comeback to stay in the game and Dorchester went home with the trophy.

Congratulations to the players for a well played team effort to get to the finals and almost winning it all.
