The Port Elgin Legion Peewee BB Hockey Team Start Their Season with a Win
The Storm PeeWee BB traveled to Goderich for an exhibition match on September 26th  and earned a solid 5-3 victory.

The Storm jumped out to a lead just :14 seconds after the drop of the puck as Charlie Wilkinson potted a wrist shot into the open corner on a nice passing play from Steven Langendoen and Ben Van Ooteghem. Goderich evened the score at the 5:04 mark as Nick Souch found a way to put one past Aaron Cruchley, with an assist to Jarred Bakker. With just :56 seconds left in the period, Eric Langridge  notched the go-ahead marker for the Storm on a set up from Ben Van Ooteghem and Ben Walker.

The Storm started the 2nd in similar fashion as the 1st as Langridge notched his 2nd of the contest, a short-handed marker on a set up from Jordan Vanhaelemeesch & Ben Walker, just :26 seconds into the period. The goal was a shorthanded marker as a result of Charlie Wilkinson earning the first trip to the sin bin for the season; his 2nd leg of a Gordie Howe hat trick (a goal and a penalty). The Storm extended their lead to 3 goals on a goal by Ben Van Ooteghem on a pass from Ben Walker at the 10:13 mark. Goderich kept plugging away and were rewarded with 2:32 left in the period on a goal by Nick Souch, assisted by Stephen DeJager. At the end of 2 complete the Storm led by a score of 4-2.

The teams traded goals in the 3rd with Luke Schmalz (Storm) & Branden Bean (Goderich) strong between the pipes for their respective teams. Kody Langlois pumped one home on a rebound at the 12:18 mark to cut the lead to one, however the Storm countered for their fifth of the contest with 7:07 left on the clock on an unassisted marker by Ben Van Ooteghem. Both teams traded opportunities for the remainder of the game, with the Storm hanging on for a 5-3 win.

Next action for the Storm will see them travel to Kincardine for a 7pm start on Tuesday, September 29th.
