The Storm Pee Wee Girls came out on the losing end of an entertaining and well played game on Monday night, falling 4 - 2 to the TCDMHA Rebels.
Despite
a rare 5 on 3 power play opportunity late in the first period, The Storm were
unable to take control of the game. They did manage to take the lead early in
the second thanks to Jessica Martin’s first of the season (assisted by Alexis
Martin) but the Rebels responded 37 seconds later to tie the game at 1-1.
Down
4 -1 midway through the third, The Storm battled back with a goal from Teaghan
Johnston (assisted by Zainab Shiekh and Brittany Greig). Goaltender Erica
Parker stopped a Rebel breakaway late in the third to keep the Storm hopes
alive and the fans on their feet, but the victory eluded them. Still, the
girls and the coaching staff should be very proud of their efforts … despite
their record, they’ve yet to produce a yawner.
The
girls’ next contest takes place Saturday Nov 7 @ 1:15pm when they’ll take on
top ranked Markdale at the Flesherton Arena.
