The Queen's Bar and Grill/Giant Tiger Midget Lady Storm won 2 out of 3 games on the road over the past week. Tuesday, February 16th saw the ladies in Kurtzville, where they dropped a well-contested 3-1 game to the Upper Maitland ladies. Kenzie Bertrand, making a rare appearance out of the pipes, got the only Storm marker, with Abi Martin getting the assist. The Saugeen Shores Queen’s Bar & Grill/Giant Tiger Midget Girls Team took down Wingham on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at the Plex in Port Elgin by a score of 3-1.  Saugeen Shores goalie, Mackenzie Bertrand, shut out the Wingham team until the dying minutes of the third.

The Storm Midget Girls found their mojo on this night against the Tiverton Thunder. With all pistons firing, the Midget Ladies skated hard and moved the puck more effectively, creating many quality scoring opportunities. Storm goaltender Kenzie Bertrand made several key stops, and enjoyed her first shutout of the season. Smart, heads-up play by the defensive core of Sarah Thornburn, Kate Little, Becca Walker and Nicole Steele kept the shots against down to a respectable level on this night. After scoring the first goal at the end in the first period, the Goderich Sailorettes got a quick goal back at the start of the second. The Midget C Storm then ran into penalty trouble. After killing 3 straight penalties, the tired Storm ladies gave up a goal that proved to be the winner with one minute left in the second. Two short-handed breakaway chances by the Storm late in the third were quelled by the Goderich netminder. The ladies will see this first place team again in the Silver Stick tournament.
