3-2 overtime loss in the finals in Fergus
The Saugeen Shores Legion Branch 340 (Port Elgin) Storm Peewee 'A's lost in overtime in the championship game on Sunday at the Centre Wellington 23rd Annual Fergus Legion Rep Hockey Tournament by a 3-2 score to the Kitchener Rangers

The Saugeen Shores Legion Branch 340 (Port Elgin) Storm Peewee 'A's lost in overtime in the championship game on Sunday at the Centre Wellington 23rd Annual Fergus Legion Rep Hockey Tournament by a 3-2 score to the Kitchener Rangers.  Down 2-0, Saugeen Shores scored two late goals to tie the game and send it into overtime.  Storm goal scorers were Ben VanOoteghem and Luke Czuczman.

Saugeen Shores advanced to the finals after finishing with a record of 2-1-1 in the round-robin.  On Saturday in Fergus, the Storm defeated the host Centre Wellington team 5-1 led by Ben VanOoteghem with two(2) goals and singles by Luke Czuczman, Matt Shields and Matthew Teschke.  The other game was a 5-0 loss to the Kitchener Rangers.

FRIDAY'S RESULTS....

The Saugeen Shores Legion Branch 340 (Port Elgin) Storm Peewee 'A's ended day one of the Centre Wellington Tournament on a positive note with a come from behind victory and a tie.

The Centre Wellington Tournament is the former Fergus Minor Hockey tournament but this year the Fergus Highlanders and the Elora Rock have amalgamated together to form a new minor hockey association called Centre Wellington at the 'A' OMHA category.

The first game for the Peewee BB Storm was Friday morning (05 December 2008) in Elora against the host Centre Wellington team.  After following behind 2-0 in the first period, the Storm came back to tie the game by the end of the second period and scored two more in the third for a 4-2 victory.  Scoring for Saugeen Shores were Matt Shields with two(2) goals and single goals by Luke Czuczman and Jordan VanHaelemeesch.

The second game was in Fergus on Friday evening against the Kitchener Junior Rangers.  The final score was a 2-2 tie.  Riley Robertson and Matt Shields were the Storm goal scorers.

The tournament continues on Saturday with two games against the same Centre Wellington and Kitchener squads.
