Welcome to the Saugeen Shores Minor Hockey Association!
We're excited to welcome players and families back for another great season of minor hockey in Saugeen Shores! Whether you're joining us for the first time or returning for another year, thank you for being part of our growing hockey community.
Let’s make the 2025–26 season our best one yet!
Important OMHA Changes for 2025-26:
- OMHA Rep Hockey Zone Restructuring:
Saugeen Shores will no longer have standalone rep teams for OMHA teams. We are now part of the newly formed Bruce Grey Bulls ‘A’ zone, along with Arran Elderslie and the Township of Chatsworth. For more information, visit: Bruce Grey Bulls Website.
- OMHA Open Borders for Local League:
OMHA has implemented an "open borders" policy for hockey. Players are now permitted to register with any minor hockey association, regardless of where they live. We anticipate increased demand and will be capping registration by division to ensure appropriate team sizes and a high-quality experience. Families are encouraged to register early to secure their spot.
- OMHA Local League Tiering: This year the WOAA will be placing local league teams into flights (upper, middle and development) based on skill level. Most of our neighbouring associations will be tiering their local league teams to support player development, create more balanced games and improve the overall experience for all skill levels. Our association is considering doing the same by forming tiered local league teams to better match players with similar skill level. When parents register their child for minor hockey this year we will be asking for their input on the format of SSMHA local league teams for the upcoming season.
- Division Caps:
To provide a positive and well-balanced experience, we are introducing division caps this season. These limits will ensure manageable coach-to-player ratios, better player development opportunities, and address concerns from last season regarding oversized team rosters.
