Anyone who wants to coach NOVICE and below will now need C1 - no exceptions. "Coach 1 – Intro to Coach" will be the only accepted qualification at Novice and below, in keeping with the Hockey Canada framework for programming in these Divisions.

The ‘Tyke’ Division (7-year-old) will now be known as ‘Minor Novice’. This aligns the naming of this division with the rest of Hockey Canada.The good news is that our Head of Development, John Rich, has organized a C1 course for March 23 at the Plex.Sign up for "Coach 1 – Intro to Coach"...

The cost for this course is $150+ tx but will be reimbursed by the SSMHA for those who are on bench staff with us. It is an 8 hour in-person, in-class and on-ice course.Important: In order to register for the C1 course, you must have completed the "HU - Online Coach 1/Coach 2" program. This is prerequisite to the in-person course to ensure that all participants have some background. It takes about 4 hours and the cost is $27+tx, again reimbursed afterward by SSMHA. Please sign up ASAP as demand for this course is high, and registrations are not restricted to Saugeen Shores participants. Places are being taken quickly.

Last Day to Signup is 03/18/2019It is essential that you have the proper qualification required to be behind the bench. Other qualifications include Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders Respect in Sport for Hockey Canada Activity Leaders and Gender Identification and Expression Hockey Canada - eHockey. These regulations ensure that all coaches are trained under uniform Hockey Canada guidelines. Trainers and Coaches can check their eHockey account to see what qualifications they have.
