Coaching
Submitted By Bonnie McLean on Monday, February 25, 2013
Dear Coaches & Parents,
For the next hockey season we are trying something different to help alleviate the headaches of scrambling for coaches and organizing fall tryouts. Other centres have been selecting coaches and even their teams in the Spring with great success. This year we plan on getting half way there. Coaching applications for Rep teams are due at the end of the month with the selections to be finalized by the middle of March. We will then host a series of Spring scouting evaluations at the end of March to give players moving up a division the chance to skate with perspective teammates. There will be NO team selection until the Fall tryout (which will be shorter), but rather give coaches a better idea at selecting the best team available.

This also lends the opportunity to provide constructive criticism and to offer summer programs to help players prepare for the upcoming season. More details on the March ice will available shortly, but the focus now is on Coaching Applications and Coaching Evaluations! We need these in order to proceed with what we, The SSMHA Coaches Club, feels is a stride in the right direction.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
CheersBrett
