Clarification of Silver Stick Cancellation
Submitted By AGottscheu on Tue 11 15, 11
In response to several queries from the public, we feel we must clarify our position ...

Our executive had sincerely hoped that the Girls’ Silver Stick Tournament could still be held this year and that some arrangement could be made between the OWHA and Silver Stick organizing committee.  Unfortunately, OWHA classification and Silver Stick rules appear to be at odds with each other – and this is beyond the scope of the SSMHA executive.  It is our understanding that the international silver stick organization wants Saugeen Shores to host the event as we have done for over a decade.  OWHA reclassification has created a situation where most of the teams that have participated in this tournament (including our own) are no longer eligible to enter.  We are still hopeful that the tournament may return in future in a new format.  As well, the executive is exploring the possibility of organizing our own Girls’ tournament.

Thanks for your understanding.
