Hello U8 & U9 Families!
Welcome to the SSMHA 2023/2024 hockey season! The September schedule is in motion and details below will help answer some questions for you.
These pre-skates allow the kids the opportunity to ‘bust the rust’ and get back out on the ice. There will be 4 pre-skates and all U8/U9 skaters are welcome to attend. Only bring your skater to the sessions that they are assigned to by Last Name.
They will be organized as follows:
Group 1: U8 Last Name A to Mc
Group 2: U8 Last Name Md to Z
Group 3: U9 Last Name A to Ma
Group 4: U9 Last Name Mb to Z
The pre-skates start on Saturday September 16th. All skates are at the Plex in Port Elgin. Your player will need full gear including a mouth guard to participate.
SSMHA will have 1 U9 MD team for this season. Hockey Canada, the OMHA and the WOAA have changed the programming for U9 and below this year and no longer offers a Tier 1 and a Tier 2 loop like last year. The WOAA is only offering a single Tier 1 MD loop this year focused on development. Therefore no association in the WOAA is offering 2 MD teams. More details will follow shortly regarding the U9 MD team.
