SSMHA OWHA Rep Teams to join OWHL for 2022/23 Season
Submitted By S. Nelson on Tue 05 03, 22
Saugeen Shores Minor Hockey Association is excited to announce its intent to ice the following Representative teams in the Ontario Women’s Hockey League (OWHL) for the 2022/23 season.

U11B
U13B
U15B
U18B

The OWHL circuit offers a standardized 22 game regular season (11 home and 11 away games) among centres of comparable skill levels.  OWHL teams are divided up geographically; placing SSMHA into the Southern Division.  Each Division is further broken down into loops of approximately 10 teams, based on geographical proximity.  This is the current standard that neighboring centres have moved their Representative (1st entry) teams to in order to ensure variety in their competition.

At the end of each season, OWHL has traditionally offered an elimination playoff format for the top 8 teams within each loop.  Winners of the playoff will have the opportunity to play in a final tournament with other successful OWHL playoff winners at Champions Weekend.  This is in addition to OWHA’s Provincial Playdowns which we are already familiar with.

It is SSMHA’s intent to host open try outs beginning around August 15th, 2022 for our U13, U15 and U18 teams.   Please stay tuned for further information.
