Inclement Weather Procedures
With the wind picking up today, it might be a good time to review adverse weather procedures. Please keep a close eye on ssmha.com for any cancellations. that might affect your team Arena closures will be posted by the town on their website and social media. SSMHA will update on social media and website as quickly as possible. Team coaches and/or managers should notify teams about any cancellations or schedule changes.

Here is a statement from the Town regarding inclement weather and power outages.

In most cases, it is unlikely that the Town will close the arena facilities. If the Town decides to close the arenas, users will be notified. The Port Elgin Complex has a generator, but the Southampton Coliseum does not. It would be more likely if the power goes out in Southampton that the Coliseum will close if affected. The Town of Saugeen Shores agrees to adjust organization accounts accordingly due to inclement weather cancelations. As for Highway 21, if it closes we do not usually close our arenas. It is up to each user group to make that decision to cancel their ice time when inclement weather happens. If there is an power outage and we know the power will not be returning within a certain amount of time, then we would close the Coliseum and notify all users affected.
