2020 2021 Season Information
Submitted By Stephen Ballard on Fri 09 11, 20
Hello SSMHA families, We are so pleased to announce that we can offer another amazing season of hockey. Covid-19 has affected so many aspects of our lives. It has changed the way we shop, learn, socialize, and how we play. Although our 2020-2021 season will be quite different from previous seasons, we feel confident that we can offer a safe and fun program, with an emphasis on development. We are in constant communication with OMHA, Public Health, and our town staff, and we will do our best to keep our families safe while we return to some sense of normalcy.

The season will start the week of Sept 28th pending Saugeen Shores Council's approval of the Recreation Department’s - Return to Play Plan - on Sept 14th“. SSMHA players will be in groups of 9 skaters and a goalie. It is mandated by Hockey Canada that our kids stay in bubbles of 50 within our Public Health Region), so each group will play 3 on 3 hockey with the other groups inside their bubble until some of our restrictions are lifted. Unfortunately, due to an increase in ice costs and downturn in revenue, our playing fees have been adjusted to reflect the necessary changes to our 2020/21 season. These fees will be the same across the board (not including our IP groups). Because of the smaller group sizes, we have many additional groups to accommodate, so each group will be scheduled for two x 1-hour ice slots per week. Additional ice times will be allocated to groups once/if extra ice becomes available. There will be many additions to our website over the next few weeks regarding Covid-19, including health questionnaires, expectations from the town regarding entrance/exit policies and traffic flow throughout the arenas, etc., so feel free to check in and keep up to date with the changes as they become available. As always, feel free to contact us with your questions/concerns, and we will do our best to answer them. Yours, in hockey Mary Campbell SSMHA President
