What a weekend for our U13B Squad!
Game one was against the Kanata Rangers. This was by far the fastest hockey game any of our players have been in. The 5-0 scored did not reflect how we played. It took a period to settle in and our team battled hard til the end.
Game two vs the Wildcats was a special treat for all in attendance. Our “StormCats” took it to this team shift after shift. They were relentless! 3-1 Storm was a deserving outcome to this battle.
The puck was dropped at 8:15am for game 3 vs Mississauga Hurricanes. Once again our girls played to the best of their abilities. They carried the game and kept the lead until a late break in the 3rd. 1-1 was the result.
Our record of 1-1-1 set the stage for the Semi-Finals vs the Sudbury Lady Wolves. This contest was of the standup and cheer kind! Our Goaltender kept us in early with some huge saves! Each team scoring in the second and end to end action followed. With one minute left in the game, a Storm defender hit the crossbar with a great shot from the point. 4vs4 OT solved nothing and this lead to a shoot out. 3 shooters per side. All three shooters beat the goalies and in the end, it was a PING off the crossbar that sealed our fate.
What a weekend & what a team. The coaching staff had no idea what to expect going into this tournament. We are so Proud of our squad and look forward to whats to come. If our Stormcats can bring this kind of play to the rink for the rest of the season, Look out!
