First Away Game Oct. 20th against the Walkerton #2 Prestige
A tough morning for our boys leads to a loss against Walkerton. Exciting and an eye opener for Storm in what the boys can and cannot do and what to watch out for from their opposer's! It was definitely a head's up game. The boys played great and their coach's and parents could not ask for anything more.
The Caps came on hard in the first minute of play, shocking the Storm with a solid goal on our starting Goaltender, Josh Briggs (5). The second goal came from one of our players who accidentally tipped it in to our net on the unsuspecting Josh.
Walkerton receives a penalty for tripping in the last half of the period, but Storm could not get past the defense. Jared Cameron (12) scores, assisted by Josh Neron (14) taking a pass from his goaltender (5) in the last minute of play to make it 2-1 Caps.
A minute into the second period, the Caps deek our goaltender making it 3-1. Josh was quite busy making a few good saves in the mean time.
Another penalty against the Caps for tripping, a rough tough team and Storm could not answer with a goal being a man up again.
A "fight" breaks out in the corner of the Caps end leaving the Storm a man down for 4 minutes and the Caps down for two minutes. With great defense and goaltending, the score remains 3-1.
The Caps again get a 4 minute penalty for a nasty head check to our centreman, and the Storm still could not get a scoring opportunity. A lot of open ice checks proved to be a problem for our forwards.
With just over a minute left in play, Jared Meyer (17) has a beauty slap shot on the Caps goaltender. The Goaltender glove saves it, the ref prompts him to keep it in play. He goes to throw the puck into the corner, catches the tip of his glove and into the net it goes!! Unassisted goal for Jared Meyer making it 3-2 at the end of the second period.
A great save on Josh Briggs' behalf keeps Storm in the game into the first minute of the third.
Not even a minute goes by and thanks to Josh Neron (14) keeping it in the Caps end, Caleb McLaren (2) answers with an assist from CJ Palmer (11). 3-3 Game on!
Awesome saves on our Goaltender and our defense make for an interesting few minutes of play after Storm receives a penalty for too many men on the ice. Full players back on and a frenzy in front of our net leads to a goal for the Caps. 4-3. Pressure is on. A breakaway from the Caps lead to a fifth goal.
Both teams are down a man again for roughing and cross checking in the last three minutes of play. Josh Briggs is pulled from the net in the last 2 minutes and put back in with just over a minute left leading to a final score of 5-3 for Walkerton.
