Port Elgin Home Hardware/Dunlop Fuels Storm Win Two
The Saugeen Shores Novice Rep team played two solid games this week as they continue their run towards the playoffs.

After dropping a stunner to Durham on Sunday, the boys were looking for revenge on Thursday night in Southampton when the Wolves travelled here for a rematch.

The boys controlled the game from the opening faceoff and came away with a convincing 6-0 win.  Jarrett Blue earned the shutout as he came up with some key saves to keep the game away from Durham.

Saugeen Shores got two goals in the first as Reed Stauffer and Dane Heipel both scored on unassisted plays.

Nic Lalonde, Austin Hagen and Donovan Kewageshig played a solid game along the boards, while Carter O’Leary kept the Wolves from getting past the blue line.

The shots continued in the second as Hale Schoneck scored on a nice effort past the Durham defense.  Seconds later, Jacob Condy scored on a solid feed from Ethan Greig.

Hale added a second goal in the third period on an assist from Nick Scott to bring the score to 5-0.  The Storm added a final goal at the end of third as Sam Flarity scored his first goal of the season and earned a well-deserved cheer from the crowd.

On Sunday afternoon, the team travelled to Hanover for a game against the Falcons.  The Storm were short two skaters which meant our boys were playing more minutes on the NHL sized rink.

The game was an even affair with both teams making rushes to the net.  Midway through the 2nd period, Hale Schoneck went end to end to open the scoring for Saugeen Shores.  A couple of minutes later, the Falcons tied it up so it was 1-1 into the third.

Both teams continued to battle for the puck before Hale scored his second goal of the game with 44 seconds left.  Hanover pulled their goalie but the Storm managed to hang on for the win.
