Port Elgin Home Hardware/ Dunlop Fuels Begin Season Strong
The Port Elgin Home Hardware/Dunlop Fuels Novice Rep team began their season on October 18th with a home game against Bruce Peninsula.  The teams faced off earlier in exhibition play with the Storm coming out on top 7-1.

This game however, would be different.  Bruce Peninsula came out strong from the opening faceoff and by the middle of the third, held a commanding 6-2 lead.  But the hometown boys would not give up, scoring 5 unanswered goals in the final 6 minutes to take the win, 7-6.

Scoring for the Storm were Jacob Condy and Reed Stauffer who each had 2, with Donovan Kewageshig, Hale Schoneck and Dane Heipel adding singles.  Assisting on the goals were Nick Scott (2), Sam Flarity (2), Heipel, Condy, Carter O’Leary, Austin Hagen, Nic Lalonde and Ethan Greig.  Jarrett Blue played a steady game in net while Eoin MacKay and Kaya Hall each played a strong checking role to keep the game close.

This past weekend, the Storm played two games, one on the road against Shallow Lake and a home game against Arran Elderslie this past Sunday.  Both were hard-fought games with the Storm winning both games.

On Saturday, the boys travelled to Shallow Lake coming away with a close win 5-3.  Jarrett Blue was solid in the net, stopping some hard shots from the opposition.  Scoring for the Storm were Condy with a hat trick and Heipel and Schoneck each adding a single.  Strong back checking from Flarity, MacKay, Lalonde, and Stauffer kept the opposition off the scoreboard.  Assisting on the goals were Kewageshig and Greig.

The final game of the weekend was against Arran Elderslie on Sunday with the Storm coming out on top 9-3.  Scoring twice for the Storm were Jacob Condy, Hale Schoneck and Dane Heipel.  Adding singles were Nick Scott, Carter O’Leary, and Donovan Kewageshig.  Adding assists were Condy with 2 and Austin Hagen with a single.

Next up for the Storm is a weekend tournament in New Hamburg.  GO STORM GO!!
