Playoff Action For ATOM AE
February 6 and 7 had STORM back on the ice after a couple of weeks getting prepared for WOAA playoff action.  After shaking some of the dust bunnies off, the team got a good warmup on Saturday for Sunday action against Listowel.

Tibor's/Rosner's STORM team first faced Drayton, who crossed over from the North Rep loop so it was a first meeting for both.  First period action ended with Drayton up by 1, scoring with just 2:47 left in the first period.  Goalie Kenneth Bollen was busy in net fighting off a Drayton offense.  Period 2 saw 6 goals scored in total, 2 for STORM and 4 for Drayton.  Colton Heipel, assisted by Coleton McNabb and Aidan Akerman got the team on the scoreboard with 4 minutes into the second, followed by a beauty goal by Malcolm Mcintosh, assisted by Owen MacKenzie, the pair who followed up with another goal/assist 3 minutes into the third.  Scoreboard in the second period lit 5-2 for the visitors.  Cameron Plante was between the posts for the third period.  Storm scored first in the third, keeping the game within reach, however Drayton followed with another two, resulting in a 7-3 win for Drayton.

Sunday's game was at the Plex, with STORM facing a familiar Listowel team in 2nd game of roundrobin play and got down to business straight away.  Eager to play, the team came out flying from the whistle.  First period remained scoreless, despite numerous chances at both ends of the rink.  STORM's defence stayed strong in their end and with the Winger's strong backchecking STORM was able to keep the puck out of their end and force some exciting play in the offensive zone.   8 minutes into the first, Listowel opened up the scoring with a shot on goalie Cameron Plante that found the corner, which was followed by a quick goal 30 seconds into the second. STORM dug deep and kept working and quickly answered Listowel's goal with one of our own, scored by Malcolm Mcintosh unassisted.  Despite some hard work and near misses, Listowel came out on top with a goal with 4 minutes left.  Final score was 3-1 Listowel, however the scoreboard doesn't reflect the efforts of ATOM AE who played a hard fought game for 3 periods.  Way to go team.  Next up is Howick and BCH!
