Saugeen Shores Bantam B Girls dominate the Bantam B Division at the Barrie Sharkfest Tournament
Saugeen Shores Allan's Fireside Grill and Heather's Poodle Care Bantam B Girls bring home a gold medal for the Bantam B Division at the Barrie Sharkfest Tournament.....
Our first game against Woolwich Wild Bantam B Girls was a well matched game until 6:28 minutes left in the third period when D. Bennett pocketed our first goal. Our second goal was scored less than two minutes later by M. Brown (assisted by B. Carter). With 2:00 minutes left in the game the Woolwich team pulled their goalie leaving the net open for B. Carter to score our third goal. Fantastic game played by everyone on the team.especially our goalie, M. Bertrand who added another shutout to her goaltending record!!
Our second game against North Simcoe was challenging but we came out ahead in the second period with S. Thornburn (assisted by B. Carter) scoring our first and only goal of the game. Excellent goaltending by M. Bertrand who now has a outstanding record of 6 shutouts!! Great team playing girls!!!
We met up against the Luncan Irish Bantam B Girls for our third game and again in the Championship game on Sunday. A strategic pass from K. Little (defense) to B. Carter resulted in our first goal of the championship match. M. Brown (unassisted) scored our second goal with 6:33 minutes remaining in the second period. The fast paced game continued to challenge the girls but with 10:55 minutes remaining in the game, B. Carter (assisted by S. Oehm) scored the gold winning goal. The SS Bantam B Girls represented Saugeen Shores well through their excellent team work and sportsmanship on and off the ice.
