Saugeen Shores U9C Girls Shine at Orangeville Sweetheart Tournament
The Saugeen Shores U9C Girls hockey team had an unforgettable weekend at the Orangeville Sweetheart Tournament, bringing home the silver medal after an intense and hard-fought championship game.
The final game was a true battle, heading into overtime after both teams remained deadlocked. Even after overtime, the score was still tied, forcing the game to be decided in a shootout. It came down to four shooters, with the Storm giving it their all in a nail-biting finish.
Their success didn’t stop there—the team also took first place in the tournament’s skills competition, showcasing their incredible talent across multiple events:
Katie tied for first place in Accuracy Shooting, proving her precision with the puck.
Hazel dazzled in the Breakaway Challenge, scoring an impressive four out of five shots.
The dynamic relay team of Hallie, Reese, Faye, and Tenley dominated their event, securing another victory for the Storm.
Sadie stood tall between the pipes, defending the net in the shootout and making key stops for her team.
It was a weekend to remember for this hardworking group of athletes, who continue to make Saugeen Shores proud with their skill, teamwork, and determination.
Way to go, Storm!
