The Chris Knott Memorial Tournament is held every year to honour the memory of our friend Christopher Randall Knott, who died suddenly in a diving accident in 1996.
Chris loved to play hockey and started his playing career as a young boy with the Welland Hockey Association. Chris' family eventually moved to Port Elgin where he continued playing and his passion for the sport grew. He was not a superstar hockey player but he sure loved the game.
As any Port Elgin player knows, there is a deep rooted rivalry between Port Elgin and Kincardine and, ironically, Chris ended up playing for the Kincardine Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs hold a golf tournament every year in memory of Chris and have retired Chris’ Jersey which can be seen in the lobby at every tournament.
Chris made friends easily and you could always pick him out of a crowd with his big smile and his ball cap slightly off centre. Chris was a great guy and is sadly missed.
