Season

This year will be run very competitively. We want to develop these young girls into their full potential.
- 5 tournaments (3 local)
- Provincials (if qualified)
- Extra Ice (Tara/Paisley/Keady)
- Dryland Training

Coach

My name is Joe McNeil, and I have been selected as the head coach. This past season I was the head coach of the U15B boy’s team for SSMHA. I have primarily run with the 2011 boy’s teams, however with the transition to Bulls Hockey I have decided to stay with SSMHA and run with the U11 girls. I am very excited for this group as there is an immense group of talent.

Volunteering

Once the team is selected, I am going to have a variety of positions for each child’s family to be responsible for. I do believe to make this the most successful and fun season for the girls, each family must contribute. If you can’t help on ice, you may be asked to help the manager, run dry land training, clock duties, team warmups, etc. I only mention this, so parents know there is no free rides, and this will only make for a better season for our girls which is why we all do it!

Tryout Schedule

Each child is guaranteed 3 tryouts. For the first tryout. FOR THE FIRST TRYOUT TUESDAY MAY 6th, LAST NAMES A-L WILL BE ON FOR 5pm, GROUP 2 at 6pm WILL BE M-Z. Please pay attention to what time slot your child has, as they may change throughout the tryout process via email. The 3rd tryout will be an internal intersquad game with all plays. After that, only selected players will be asked to move on. I am hopeful to schedule an exhibition game for the 4th tryout. After the 4th tryout, final cuts will be made. SSMHA has not confirmed the final number yet, however I would guess 12/13 skaters and 1 goalie.

Tryout

Skating, puck handling, shooting, battle type scenarios, and of course game play. I ask that all kids come with a positive attitude, and respect for all coaches.

Independent evaluators will be watching tryouts, and each kid will have a fair change. I ask that you please respect the evaluators, they are volunteers. I do plan on picking the best kids, regardless of position. Your child may be asked to play forward or D depending on the coaching staff. If your child is only interested in playing one position, please let me know prior to tryouts so that can be brought forward in the selection process.

I ask that you all be kind and respectful throughout the process. Remember the coaches are volunteers.

Thanks so much for your time, and your child’s passion for the great game of hockey!

Joe McNeil
