MEDALS IN MOORETOWN
WOW! What a fabulous weekend in Mooretown for the SSMHA U18T2 players, bench staff and the cheering families! The boys won 3 of their Round Robin games and tied the 4th taking them directly to the Championship game on Sunday.

The first game our guys were pitted against a physical home team (Mooretown)and adapted to that gameplay well. Without losing their composure and utilizing each others strengths they started the weekend with a 4-1 win. Goals from Huxley, Michael, Kellan and Dawson and assists from Paxton, Zander, Ben, Sam and Keagon.
Game 2 was against a feisty Duro team. The team started with a lead and controlled the game well, but Duro fought back to make it a 1 goal game. In the end, Storm took the Win again. Goals from Riley, Sam, William and Michael, assists from Paxton, William, Huxley, Jackson and Sam.
On Saturday the boys would face their toughest competition of the weekend against Petrolia. This game Tyler was outstanding in net. He made so many important saves and never took his eyes off the puck. With a short handed snipe from William, passed by Adam, Storm took the lead early on. Most of this game was played in our end so the boys played defensively to help Tyler as best as they could. Petrolia evened it up in the 2nd and that would be the end of the scoring for the game. They ended in a tie, and were grateful for a 5 hour break before game 4.
The final game of Round Robin play was against the Ilderton Jets. Storm came out fired up and took a quick 3-0 lead in the 1st period with goals from Jacob, Ben and Zander, assisted by Paxton, Jackson, Sam, Riley and William. Ilderton really put them to the test in the 3rd scoring 2 goals making it a tight game. Nearing the end of the 3rd Kellan scored from William and Brendan snuck in an empty netter at the end of the game giving the boys a 5-2 Win!

That evening the team and their families enjoyed spending time with one another with a hotel team dinner and tons of laughter and bonding watching hockey and football. It was a wonderful evening and the boys really decided that they wanted to go into the Championship game to WIN the tournament.

The boys were matched up once again with Petrolia and it was an intense one to watch for the families! Petrolia took the lead halfway through the 1st, the team really dug deep and played fabulous hockey to tie it up at the end of the 1st. Power play goal by Kellan, assisted by Zander. This game was very back and forth and very intense and Petrolia is a formidable team. Petrolia gave the boys another power play opportunity late in the 2nd that they capitalized on! A goal from Sam, assisted by Zander gave us the lead! Parents were excited to say the least! The 3rd period was a battle to the end and the boys weathered a couple penalty kills and having the Petrolia goalie pulled to finish the Stanley Taggart Memorial Tournament with GOLD MEDALS!

This weekend we watched the team come together like they haven't before. They supported one another, cheered for one another and worked together so well. It was the first time in a long time that all the players were together as our injured defenceman made his way back to the line up for power play shifts. The coaches and parents are super proud of the boys and we wish them luck in their difficult second half of season loop and playoffs. A giant thank you to our sponsor, Elgin Jewellers and bench staff. Head coach Randi Martin, Assistant Coach Charlie Ebenstreit, Trainer Richard Leaver and Trainer Tyler Sharples for all your work with the guys this season.

GO STORM!
