Port Elgin Vet Clinic Pee Wee Girls (21-6-3) traveled to Woodstock to compete in
the Annual Woodstock Wildcat Girls Hockey Tournament run January 5-7. The Girls
finished a top the standing after the round robin with a perfect 3-0 record with
wins over Wallaceberg (4-2), Woodstock (2-1) and Mitchell (4-1).
Up against St. Mary's in the semi-final on Sunday morning, the Girls needed overtime to come away with a 4-3 victory. The overtime was played 3 on 3 and was loaded with opportunities for both teams. The defibrillator was not used for the fans, parents, or coaching staff (but it may have been close). In the final, 2 quick goals in the opening minutes by an energized Wallaceberg team seemed to be too big of a hole for the girls to climb out of, although the effort was there. The final score was 4-1. Well done ladies!
A special shout out to the Midget Girls who captured the B title at this same tournament and for your loud encouragement for the girls during the thrilling semi-final game!
