Midget LL, U18 (OMHA), 2011-2012 (Saugeen Shores Minor Hockey)

Harry Zhu has had some good chances over the season to get his first goal and we were all hoping he would get the puck in the net eventually.  He succeeded on Sunday night when he put the puck past the goal tender in Tiverton.  The OPG Midget LL Storm were ahead 3-1 but unfortunately ended in a 5-3 loss.  Harry's last opportunity for another goal will be on Wednesday night when the Midgets LL team plays their last game of the season in Lions Head.

Saugeen Shores OPG Midget LL made the snowy journey to Wainfleet for a tournament the weekend of Jan 14/15.  They played some very good hockey and had a couple of close games.  Cam Bott played outstanding in net for the Storm.  Although they were not victorious on the ice, the boys had plenty of fun during their stay in Niagara Falls.  They enjoyed the indoor waterpark near the falls and tried their luck with the arcade games on Clifton Hill. 

Saugeen Shores OPG Midget LL would like to welcome Dave Gundrum back after his two year retirement from hockey.  Dave will be playing for us part-time when he can fit us into his already very busy schedule.  We thank Dave very much for coming back to our team.  The boys have yet to have a win this season but are progressing well in many areas and Cam Bott is really progressing in net.  Goals scored recently by the Storm where by Evan Lovering and Braden Kelly.  Assists were by Riley Schoettler, Clay Lamont and Ben Cottrell.

Riley Schoettler stepped up to play goalie in an empty net for his Midget LL team in a game against Durham Nov 22.  Although Durham won 7-4, Riley played outstanding for his first time in net.  Way to go, Riley!

Cam Bott has joined the OPG Midget LL to fill their goal tender position.  The team would like to thank Cam for joining our team.  Although Cam has never played ice hockey before, he made some outstanding saves facing 38 shots in his debut game vs. Mildmay.  It was a rough game for the first time goalie and the team is very lucky to have avoided injuries.  Mildmay won the game 9-2 with Riley Schoettler and Evan Lovering scoring the two goals for the Storm.  Assists were by Mack Gallagher, Kyle Kahgee and Harrison Tew.  The team travels to Durham on Saturday for a one day tournament.
