As a condition of participation in minor hockey, the OMHA/OWHA has mandated that parents of players registered are required to take the Respect In Sport (RIS) Parent Program.
Parents of players in Tyke and all boys LL, AE and Representative teams must complete the online course, and players will be unable to be rostered without parents completing this course.
Don't delay in completing as this will result in your player not receiving OMHA/OWHA approval to play on any teams!
The Respect in Sport Program for Parents is a unique, in-depth 1 hour online program geared to providing the parent with information on how to evaluate and understand:
- Parental influence over a child
- Coach and leader roles in sport
- Role of the parent and coach in ensuring a child's enjoyment of a sport
- Protecting your child when outside of your immediate control
- Concussion awareness and Return to Play guidelines
- Long-Term Player Development
Saugeen Shores Minor Hockey will be responsible for implementing these requirements as established by the OMHA and requires your support and cooperation with ensuring the completion of this certification.
The cost of the online Respect in Sport Parent Education Program is $12 plus HST which can be paid via credit card or PayPal when registering online. You will not be reimbursed for this cost, it is an OMHA program not a SSMHA program.
Thank you for your commitment to the safety, enjoyment and success of your child, and all OMHA participants.

IMPORTANT:
When completing the course it is important to ensure all your children participating in minor hockey are properly entered in the 'Child Management' screen. Children's names should be entered using the same spelling as when they were registered with Saugeen Shores Minor Hockey. If you cannot find your child in the data base please contact us for assistance.
Upon completion of the program please ensure to save a copy of your certificate and the confirmation email for future reference.
