SSMHA lost a valued member of its family
SSMHA has lost a valued member of its family.Eric Fernandes passed away on Sunday, March 22, after a brief battle with head and neck cancer (squamous cell carcinoma). For many years, Eric was deeply involved in girls’ hockey, serving as an assistant coach and trainer on his daughter Andi’s teams. He was also a member of the bench staff for the U13B girls team this season.
Eric had a tremendous hockey mind and a true passion for the game. He took great pride in sharing his knowledge and had a special ability to build confidence in every player he coached.
He played an instrumental role in last season’s U11C Provincial Championship and was excited to pursue another this year.
Coach “Big E” made a lasting impact on players, coaches, and families alike, and he will be deeply missed.
The SSMHA would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to Eric's family and friends during this very difficult time.
