Nomination Form Now OPEN for available Executive Positions
The Nomination form is now open and up on the website for SSMHA executive positions up for election this year.  


The SSMHA AGM (Annual General Meeting) will take place on March 25th at 7pm upstairs at the PLEX.
The newly elected positions will be decided on at the AGM.  

The Following 10 executive positions are up for election: 

-President
-Treasurer
-OMHA LL Director
-OWHA Director
-OMHA Registrar 
-OWHA Registrar
-U7 Director
-U9 Director
-Director of Public Relations
-Director of Tournaments

*The term of office is 2 years. 

If you would like to get involved on the executive next season, kindly submit a nomination form at your earliest convenience. According to section 9.1 of our by-laws, a nomination form must be completed by all nominees and two (2) nominators who are members of the association in good standing. 

All interested applicants are strongly encouraged to reach out to this year's executive to discuss the responsibilities of any available positions. For those interested, please keep in mind that you will be mentored through your first year on the executive to ensure a successful term.

Main Responsibilities of Board of Directors

The President shall:
a) Sign as the signing officer of the Association;
b) Ensure that suitable insurance coverage is obtained for the Board of Directors, Association, Equipment and ensure that these Insurance policies are renewed yearly;
c) Suspend players or team officials as per the Association’s Rules of Operation15
d) Sit on all Committees as an ex-officio voting member;
e) Chair Association meetings as directed within by-law;
f) Ensure that the Association’s Rules of Operation are being administered;
g) Chair Disciplinary Committee and appoint members as appropriate as per the Association’s Rules of Operations.
h) Delegate any necessary roles to members of the Board of Directors.
i) Chair Executive Committee.
The President is to represent the Association at all functions, which are in the interest of the Association. If unable to attend, they may appoint a member of the Board of Directors to act on their behalf

The Director of U7 shall:
a) Oversee, manage, and coordinate all registrants in the OMHA U7 program;
b) Liaise with the Registrar to roster players and coaches appropriately for all U7 and below teams; Ensure criminal record checks and up to date coaching qualifications.
c) Facilitate player evaluation and appropriate rostering and grouping for the U7 Program;
d) Coordinate, track and develop on ice volunteers; Ensure criminal record checks for all on-ice volunteers.
e) Ensure adequate bench staff and encourage development of coaching volunteers;
f) Organize Jamboree teams based on interested players, register for Jamborees/Attack minigames, organize coaches/trainers and manage funds for Jamborees attended (generally 3per team).
g) Liaison with the OWHA’s U7 Director to assist in the coordination of the OWHA U7Program;
h) Maintain communication with the U7 and Below general membership;
i) Organize year end celebration for all U7 participants;
j) Manage appropriate jersey and equipment requirements (boards, pucks, nets, goalie equipment) with Equipment Manager and/or Jersey Committee; Order jerseys/socks/medals in June for upcoming season. 
k) Liaise with OMHA center contact on OMHA implementation guidelines and they pertain to half-ice hockey/beginner hockey development.

The OMHA LL Director shall:
a) Facilitate all Local League evaluation skates and oversee the creation and operation of the Local League teams;
b) Present to the Executive Committee for approval, a list of Coaches for all local league teams;
c) Identify the ice time requirements to the Director of Ice Scheduling for all evaluation skates and regular season ice allotments;
d) Keep record of all costs directly associated with operating Local League to be used by the Budget Committee to establish next seasons operating budget;
e) Work in conjunction with the Director of Registration to ensure all Local League bench staff have appropriate qualifications;
f) Coordinate with the other Directors the number and designation of teams representing the Association for the upcoming season;
g) Maintain transparent and regular communication with all Local League Coaches and Managers throughout the season.

The OWHA Director shall:
a) Oversee the operations of the women’s league teams;
b) Present to the Executive Committee for approval, a list of Coaches for all women’s teams;
c) Identify the ice time requirements to the Director of Ice Scheduling; for all evaluation skates and regular season ice allotments
d) Keep record of all costs directly associated with operation of the women's teams to be used by the Budget Committee to establish next seasons operating budget;
e) Act as the Board of Directors representative on the Silver Stick Committee;

The Director of U8/U9 shall:
a) Act as the U8/U9 Coordinator and oversee, manage, and coordinate all registrants in the OMHA U8/U9 program;
b) Liaise with the Registrar to roster players and coaches appropriately for all U8/U9 teams;
c) Facilitate player evaluation and appropriate rostering for U8/U9 Programs;
d) Coordinate, track and develop on ice volunteers for the U8/U9 program;
e) Ensure adequate bench staff and encourage development of coaching volunteers;
f) Coordinate with the WOAA and the WOAA/OMHA Liaison regarding matters pertaining to U9 tiering and grouping;
g) Coordinate with OMHA LL Director regarding matters pertaining to U9 Local League and U8 Local League teams;
h) Liaison with the OWHA Director to assist in the coordination of the OWHA U9 and Below programming;
i) Maintain communication with the U8/U9 general membership;
j) Manage appropriate jersey and equipment requirements (boards, pucks, nets, goalie equipment) with Equipment Manager and/or Jersey Committee;
k) Liaise with OMHA center contact on OMHA implementation guidelines and requirements as they pertain to half-ice hockey;

The Treasurer shall:
a) Keep a record of all monies received and disbursed, deposit all monies in the bank, and make all disbursements by cheque, countersigned by the designated signing authorities;
b) Prepare a monthly statement of receipts, disbursements, outstanding bills, and bank balance;
c) Pay all bills following Board of Directors approval. Each bill must detail the reason and theamount of each expenditure;
d) Prepare the annual budget in co-operation with the members of the Budget Committee;
e) Present for each Annual General Meeting a financial statement covering the year's operation

The OWHA Registrar shall:
a) Be responsible for the registration of all SSMHA players enrolling in OWHA;
b) Provide the Convener of Women’s Hockey, Rep, HL/LL, Treasurer, and Secretary withup-to-date lists of registered OWHA players;
c) Provide the Director of U7 and Director of U8/U9 with up-to-date lists of registered U7 &U9 OWHA players;
d) Assist with overseeing SSMHA’s OWHA online registration via the RAMP online system for players, coaches and staff;
e) Assist with ensuring all OWHA rostered staff are up to date on qualifications;
f) Aide in communicating with the SSMHA Treasurer to ensure that all OWHA registrants arecurrently up to date with registration payments;
g) Assist in confirming that all OWHA Registered families are up to date with Respect In Sport certification

The Director of OMHA Registration shall:
a) Be responsible for the registration of all SSMHA players;
b) Support the Board of Directors to maintain an up-to-date register of names, addresses, and telephone numbers of Board of Directors members, convenors, managers, and coaches, and Association Members;
c)Provide an estimate of the upcoming season’s registration to be used by the Budget Committee to establish an initial budget in order to determine registration rates;
d) Be responsible for SSMHA online registration coordination and in-person registrations in Saugeen Shores and at the Saugeen First Nation as required;
g) Oversee rostering of teams & officials. 

The Director of Public Relations shall:
a) Post on the website and email to the members the notice of the Annual General Meeting no later than thirty days prior to the meeting;
b) Be generally responsible for the Association website; ensuring all Sponsors are up-to-date, granting access for teams, posting notifications, etc.
c) Create and maintain annual email distribution lists;
d) Maintain Social Media channels;
e) Coordinate with the Secretary to ensure most current revisions of all necessary documents are posted and accessible on the SSMHA website.

The Director of Tournaments shall:
a) Establish a tournament schedule as early in the hockey season as possible;
b) Coordinate all SSMHA sanctioned tournaments and ensure all tournaments comply to the requirements of their respective governing body (ie. OMHA, OWHA, Silver Stick International, etc);
c) Submit projected budget to Board of Directors for budget preparation/registration fees;
d) Attend the Silver Stick International AGM;
e) Ensure tournaments comply with OMHA and OWHA tournament regulations;
f) Chair any tournament sub-committees;
g) Submit post-tournament financial statement to Board of Directors
