Scotiabank Bounces Back
Submitted By Ray Hall on Sunday, February 21, 2010
After opening their playoff round-robin series with a lop-sided win, the Scotiabank novices continued to play well but were unlucky in making the red light flash in their favour and were handed two consecutive losses. On Sunday afternoon at The Coliseum they regained their scoring touch and defeated the Desboro Team #1 by a 13 - 4 score. The Tyke line of Kaya Hall, Eoin Mackay, and Spencer Sutter-Lammie accounted for five goals and nine points in total. Kaya enjoyed a hat-trick plus an assist, Eoin one goal and two assists, and Spencer one goal and one assist. Bonus production from our under-agers. Kaya was rewarded with the Digger Award for his continued tough play and break-away speed. Also earning hat-tricks were Desmond Gouin and Colby Ritchie with Reed Stauffer and Eric Johnson chipping in one each. What was maybe the most impressive story of this game was that Scotiabank found themselves down 3 - 1 after the first 4 1/2 minutes of play. With goaltender Ayden Young bearing down and defencemen Reed Stauffer, Jack Evans and Blake Shields, Josh Johnson closing off the skating zones in their end, everyone picked up their play, excelling in their passing, forechecking, backchecking, puckhandling, and skating. Great team win. Next practice Friday 26 Feb at 5:45 at Port Elgin with the final robin-robin game on Saturday at 12:00 in Desboro against the Desboro Team #2.
