A Loss Is Still A Win
Submitted By Ray Hall on Friday, February 19, 2010
The Scotiabank Novices lost to the Saugeen Shores Team #3 on Friday night at The Plex by a 4 - 1 score in the initial round-robin of their playoffs. However, the team played well and the positives of their play gave everyone the same feeling as if they had won. Credit is given to the SS #3 Team who ended up in First Place in the regular season in the eleven team league. This was the third time Scotiabank played and lost to this strong team this year and coincidently the scoring in all these games was again monopolized by the same talented players. Dane Heipel, Josh Neron and Carter O'Leary displayed their blossoming skills and bodes well for the future of strong Saugeen Shores hockey players.  Scotiabank team highlights go to Colby Ritchie for spoiling the shut-out with assists to Austin Belanger and Jack Evans; the sound of a beautiful butterfly save by Ayden Young from a hard shot that resonated off his pad throughout the arena; the strong play of defenceman Jack Evans (game's Digger Award); the tough board play of tyke Kaya Hall and his quick acceleration that forced the opposition to draw a tripping penalty; the smooth skating of another tyke Spencer Sutter-Lammie; the strength of Drew Besito on her faceoffs; the tireless two-way play of Desmond Gouin; and the overall balance play of the team as a whole. It really is a great atmosphere in the Scotiabank dressing room. Practice Saturday afternoon at noon in Southampton with a game Sunday 1:30 vs Desboro Tm #1 also in Southampton.
