Celebrating 10 years of Silver Stick
The 2009 Women’s Silver Stick Tournament marks the 10th anniversary in Saugeen Shores.

With the celebration of our 10th anniversary comes major changes to our tournament. In the past we have hosted regional teams with winners advancing to a Finals Tournament.

We have been selected by Silver Stick International to host a Finals Tournament. Now being sanctioned to run Atom C, Pee Wee C, Bantam C, Midget C and Intermediate C, we have the opportunity to host teams from across North America.

Following the Opening Ceremonies on Friday, a 3 on 3 Atom mini tournament will take place at the Saugeen Shores Community Complex. The emphasis will be on camaraderie and sportsmanship. Each Atom team will be represented by four skaters and a goalie. Eight teams will participate with four teams on the ice at a time.

On Sunday, “The Afternoon of Champions” will occur. All five divisional Championship games will be played at the Saugeen Shores Community Complex in Port Elgin. The winners of each division will receive a Silver Stick trophy to display in their home arena. Also Champions will receive the traditional sterling silver Champion pin. All players in the tournament receive Silver Stick participant pins. Medals and banner will also be given to the two teams participating in the finals.

The Silver Stick tradition continues to grow in Saugeen Shores.
