Tournament Rules

O.W.H.A. rules shall apply except as listed below.

1. Team representative must check in at the registration desk 1 hour before

the first game. Teams must be available to play thirty (30) minutes prior to

their scheduled game time. All "pickup players" must be declared prior to the

team's first game.

2. Each team will play a minimum of three games. In three team pools one of

the round robin games will be against a team in the other three team pool. All

games will count towards each teams final standing.

3. Intent to injure and fighting penalties will result in the player being

expelled from the game and the remainder of the tournament. OWHA penalties and

suspensions shall also apply.

4. All games will consist of three (3) periods of ten (10) minute stop time.

5. Regular tournament games will be allowed to end in a tie. All final and

championship games will employ tiebreak method as described.

6. Overtime. If a Final or semi-final game is tied at the end of

regulation time the following procedure will apply:

• A 10 minute stop time sudden victory period will be played.

• The teams will not change ends.

• Teams will play three players + goalie per side.

• Teams can change on the fly or at a whistle.

• Penalties in the overtime will result in a penalty shot.

• If a penalty was in force at the end of regulation time the nonpenalized

team shall play with four skaters at the start of overtime

and the penalized team with three skaters. Once the penalty expires

teams shall play four skaters aside until the first stoppage of

play. At that stoppage each team will remove one player from the

ice.

• If a penalty was in force at the end of regulation time the

remaining time will continue once overtime commences.

• If a team has not used it's 30 second time-out it may do so in overtime.

• If the game is still tied at the end of overtime a shootout shall be

conducted as listed in Rule # 7.

7. Shoot-Out (Penalty shot style):

• Three players will be named from each team before the game begins,

• If game remains tied after the three players from each team have shot,

each team will continue to send one more shooter (other than the previous

three selected) and in any order, until a sudden victory winner is

declared.

• Any player serving a penalty that has not expired by the end of sudden

victory overtime, shall not participate in the shoot-out,

• No player may shoot again until all players on the bench have shot;

• Players shall shoot simultaneously.

8. Breaking of Tournament Tie.

Note: once one method for breaking ties has been used, the next step, in

order, is to be used.

Two (2) points will be awarded for a win, one (1) point for a tie. In case

of two (2) or more teams tied in points after round robin games, tie breakers

will follow the following criteria:

A Most wins

B Record against other tied team

C Goals For minus Goals Against

D Most Goals For

E Least Goals Against

F First goal scored when the tied teams played

G Least penalty minutes

H Time first goal scored in the tournament

I Toss of coin (Tournament organizer to decide Heads)

9. Wild Card

Wild card will be the team in the division that has the most points that

has not yet qualified for the semi finals. Ties shall be broken based on the

criteria listed in rule #8.

10. One 30 second time out is allowed for the Semi Finals and Championship

Games only.

11. The Home team will wear white sweaters. (Exception: Teams with only one

set of sweaters.)

12. Awards will be presented to all Champions and Finalists.

13. Birth certificates or OWHA registration numbers, and any applicable

release or travel permits (USA teams) are required for all participating

player/teams.

14. No games will begin before 8:00 a.m. Friday and 7:00 a.m. Saturday and

Sunday.

15. The Saugeen Shores Silver Stick Tournament Officials' final decisions are

final.
